New Events 2023

DOWNE U3A MEMBERS BENEFIT FROM PHA SUPPORT
Downe u3a is organising a wide ranging programme of activities funded by the Public Health Agency (PHA) through the Clear Project which aims to improve emotional wellbeing by targeting the concepts of
Connect, Be active, Keep learning, Give to others and Take notice.
Downe u3a are delighted to announce an exciting programme for their members, designed to provide then with new interests and new friends. The events will each cost just £2 to participants except for a £5 charge for craft activities where participants will be leaving with a finished product and the cookery events where they will have a 3 course meal.
At the cookery events, in Downpatrick, Crossgar and Strangford, Richard and Sarah from Murlough Kitchens will, with the help of participants, produce a simple but tasty and low cost 3 course meal from locally sourced materials, before everyone sits down to enjoy the good food. There will be 3 different craft activities, pottery with Peter in Preaching House Pottery in Killough, textile crafts with Emma from Top Floor Art Gallery & Open Studios and floral art with Tracey from Floral Creations Comber. Those with an interest in writing will be offered a 4 week course in writing stories for children with Maddie Stewart in Coney Island. Music and dance will be addressed through a vocal workshop and singalong with Amanda from Mountain Music and a dance class with Ashley, learning simple dances from Ireland and France. Finally there will be opportunities to learn basic first aid with St John’s Ambulance.
If you are not yet a member of Downe u3a but would like to participate, call 07367 122765. Membership costs just £14 per year, allowing you to join a wide range of interest groups, including the recently started Film and Theatre Groups and the Photography Group which is setting up this month.
